Last week, we were pleased to welcome a group from Leeds University Business School and North Carolina State University to the Sound Leisure factory in Leeds.

The visit brought together students and academics with members of the Sound Leisure team for an open discussion about the realities of manufacturing, exporting, and running a family-owned business in today’s global marketplace.

During the session, we explored the challenges and opportunities that come with international trade, including how changes in government policy can quickly impact established markets. We also discussed the importance of adapting to changing conditions, developing strong customer relationships, and continually investing in product development.

As a company that exports to more than 40 countries worldwide, Sound Leisure has experienced first-hand how flexibility, teamwork, branding, and long-term partnerships can help businesses navigate changing economic conditions and continue to grow.

Of course, no visit to Sound Leisure would be complete without a look behind the scenes at how our jukeboxes are built. The group toured our Leeds factory, learning about the craftsmanship, engineering, and manufacturing processes that go into every machine we produce.

It was particularly encouraging to hear the students’ questions and perspectives throughout the day. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement made for some excellent discussions, covering everything from international business strategy and manufacturing challenges to the enduring appeal of the jukebox itself.

We would like to thank everyone from Leeds University Business School and North Carolina State University for taking the time to visit us, and we wish them every success in their future studies and careers.

We look forward to welcoming more student groups to Sound Leisure in the future.
